Industrial Dockyard
In 2010 we celebrate the 150 year anniversary of the launch of our sail and steam powered warship, HMS Warrior 1860. See Warrior’s magnificent Penn steam engine bought to life and smoke pouring from her funnels.
Join us on a tour to glimpse the dockyard’s Block Mills – the world’s first complete steam-powered factory. The number of places on each tour is limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Further tours will be available in September as part of Heritage Open Days.
Discover one of Portsmouth Historic Dockyard’s hidden gems, The Dockyard Apprentice Exhibition. Clock in and become an apprentice of the Royal Dockyard in 1911 and learn the crafts and skills that were needed at a time when the Dreadnought battleships were being constructed here.
Entertainment
The site will be bought to life with a host of Victorian dock characters, Morris dancers, brass bands and street entertainers.
A traditional fairground and craft market plus a bigger and better Real Ale, Sausage and Cider Festival this year complete what promises to be a fantastic day out for all the family!
